Toddler on tour – Meet Bébé Nathan (and Doudou Chien)

Since Bébé Nathan joined our family on Christmas 2008, he’s been part of every trip we’ve taken. Bébé Nathan is a soft black doll and he’s my daughter’s favorite. Luckily, he’s not too tall, fits easily in a suitcase or a backpack. He’s easy-going and tolerates a bath from times to times. Bébé Nathan listened to church bells’ rings in Tuscany, got lost (and found – thank you, dear walkers!) during a hike in Yellowstone National Park, enjoyed a Thai massage in Chiang Mai …
He’s been a real star in Thailand, where everyone wondered why my fair-skinned daughter was carrying a black doll around. Dolls don’t know much about genetics.
In 2 weeks from now, Bébé Nathan will take off with us on a trip to Thailand, Cambodia and Laos. We’re all so excited!

In a popular scene of the French movie Amélie Poulain, Amélie steals a garden dwarf figurine from her father’s yard and lets it explore wonderful places, from where the dwarf sends greeting postcards: Paris, Tokyo, New York, Venice. I am looking forward to posting pictures of Nathan, in front of the Angkor Vat, on beautiful sandy beaches...

I’d like to conclude with a warm “thank you” to the anonymous, friendly and efficient officer of the lost-and-found desk of Eurostar in Folkestone, who returned “doudou chien” to us by the next mail post.  Doudou chien is my son’s favorite; she put a smile on my boy’s face with her action!
